Wel, after a full week of work and play, Julie, AK and Iare in beautiful Banff!! We left Sat morn early, trying to look for an unneeded kid carrier for the plane flight. On the way, we met up with the Wymans, and even got to see Scott in action as he got called off to a fire while we were climbing around the fire engines. We then had a messy lunch at a Thai place with Brit and Francis. About 2p, we arrived at DIA, and it was a big playground for AK, really. The snowstorm was pretty, and was nice enough to break for us to take off. AK loved the flight: "BOUNCY" was her favorite parts, although Julie was not as thrilled with the take-off, landing or air pockets. Once in Calgary, we rented a car, and drove to Banff, checking in at almost midnight to a beautiful hotel in the dense Banff forest. Sunday, AK and Julie got up early and had a lovely breakfast before they got me to go on the gondola ride!! Man, it was a high-visibiity day! AK was a trooper and walked from the top of the gondola to the top of the mountain, and then rode on my shoulders back down all the winding steps. She instantly made many friends, and was even cute enough to get into a few pictures ;) We had a great lunch and she sat like a young woman, content and happy. Now, she's sleeping happliy on the hotel bed...I think I might join her *yawn* Everyone here is very nice; smiles and people saying, "hello!". I didn't realize how even in Laramie or Ft Collins it was lacking. And, even though the computer systems here aren't as zippy as in the US, everything just happens really fast cause the people know what's up. Anyway, I dont mean to contrast the cultures of US and Canada, really, just noticed these things. |
